Pittsburgh’s Going Batty!
As the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises” has taken to the streets of Pittsburgh to film, converting our city into Gotham, Pizza Sola was left wondering …. What kind of pizza would Batman like?
Some reports state that Batman’s favorite food is nachos – so would he enjoy a cheesy slice with a touch of jalapeño?
Or, how about our Vendetta pizza? That sure seems appropriate given the history of The Caped Crusader.
We’re guessing that Catwoman would opt for one of our leaner choices like our vegan pie to keep her fab figure for that skintight black catsuit!
We asked in the past about your favorite Pizza and Movie pairings – so which pie would you choose for a Batman movie marathon?

It isn’t the Heat or the Humidity – It’s the Pizza!
Summer’s in full swing in Pittsburgh: PNC Park is packed with people for Pirate games (finally), different venues around the city are filled nightly with the noise of summer concerts and IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. Luckily, Pizza Sola has a few menu items that are perfect for these hot summer nights.
Pizzas light on toppings like our Bianca pizza and Margherita pizza are great for those dog days, while the Hawaiian or Fire Island white pizzas can provide a flavor kick appropriate for the summer months.
Pie is a staple of any American summer, and at Pizza Sola you can choose from Dutch Cherry, Dutch Blueberry or Caramel Apple for dessert. We also offer the always delectable Smore pie made with Nutella, graham crackers and marshmallows. It’s like making smores by the campfire, except without the camp or the fire. Or the stick. Or the mess. And in a pizza place. It has very little in common with making smores by the campfire, but at least it tastes the same, or dare I say, better.
Along with these ideal summer menu items, each Pizza Sola offers a wide variety of drinks to quench your thirst (the Ginger Beer is awesome!) and the Oakland location offers a bar to quench your legally of-age thirst. Stop by Pizza Sola today (or tomorrow, we don’t want to rush you) and let us know what’s YOUR favorite thing to have during Summertime Pizzatime!

The Eggplant Parmesan Solazone
If you’re Italian you’ve most likely tried eggplant parmesan, if you’re not Italian there’s a good chance you’ve heard of it. The traditional Italian dish consisting of fried eggplant pieces covered in cheese and tomato sauce is as Campbell’s says “Mmm Mmm Good” and one of my personal favorites! Another one of my personal favorites, like so many other people, is carbs. I can never get enough bread (there is just something so satisfying about it)! Therefore, when I decided to try one of Pizza Sola’s Solazones I thought why not go for it and try out the Eggplant Parmesan Solazone. Oh, by the way, solazone is just the preferred term used by Pizza Sola to refer to their calzones.
At first I was a little unsure of how the experience was going to go, considering its not exactly a menu choice you see frequently, but I gave it a shot. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and not at all turned off by it judging by the fact that I’m currently munching on another one as I write this. The ingredients of fried eggplant, mozzarella, and romano cheese are baked to perfection inside a hot oven and served to you warm on a plate. It even comes with a side of sauce for your dipping pleasure. This solazone is perfect to grab on your way to class, or work and if you order it as a combo you also get a side salad and a fountain drink for only a couple dollars more. Therefore, if you ever find yourself heading to one of the best in Pittsburgh pizza known as Pizza Sola check out Combo #4 and prepare to be AMAZED!
